Session 6

  1. December 24 is the day after the battle at the Cardoch Isles, where the joint fleet of Fynn and Ygdree defeated that of Cartegan and Lygeia.
  2. On that day the King put out a proclamation stating:
  • That Lygeia and Cartegan acted on the command of the Magnus who is desperately trying to manipulate the independent churches.
  • That Congregist conspirators within the country exist and will be dealt with.
  • That his official corronation  as king of Lothian will take place in 10 days, when the loyalists that took part in the battle will be rewarded.
3. Vice Admiral Wallace organized a dinner party at the building of the Admiralty.
3. On the next day, December 25, a set of letters written by Court Astrologer Grahame to many noble Congregist families in the city are intercepted. The letter make reference to a conspiracy against the King and the use of Witchcraft.
4. Royk the Bard finds out that Grahame has left the city. 5. His ship is pursued by Captain Beric and an Admiralty vessel with Lord Carlisle holding a letter of marque for the Astrologer's arrest.
6. Captain Beric intercepts the vessel and the group confront the Astrologer who reveals that:
  • He indeed took part in the coven of Benton Kirk several times.
  • The coven is led by a man calling himself Father Timeus, and is attended by various kinds of people, mostly aristocracy. He claims that most of them are in it for the profit, others for the thrill, but there is certainly no conspiracy against the King.
  • He refuses to reveal any names
  • He claims Kezia's head was bought by him, and used to evoke storms and study the witch's knowledge.
  • He hints that Kezia is much more than a dead witch. In what he found out, she appears to have been connected with a mad Astrologer in Anningley 200 years ago who is the actual author of the Lemegeton.
6. Captain Beric takes in his boat Kezia's head, a hand of glory and a book called 'Jointing'.
7. The Admiralty vessel intercepts them and the astrologer commits suicide. On the return journey his carcass is reanimated and in the fight that ensues Kezia appears and is defeated.
8. They arrive at port and Carlisle and Royk give testimonies to the Advocate.
9. An Assize is being set up against the dead astrologer and the 85 noble citizens mentioned in his 42 letters.
10. Stearne, who is in the assize and cannot leave Falkirk, requests of Carlisle to silently deal with a possible witchcraft threat in their home village of Danrock. Impressed by Captain Beric's actions in the Kingsport assize he requests that the rest join him there.
He is afraid that if the matter in Danrock attracts official attention in such times, a  lot of common, superstitious village folk will be treated as Witches and traitors against the king.
11. Father Roth has been ordained 6th Bishop of Lamert.
